One day the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to an under-developed country to show his son how poor people live in the world. They spent a few days on a farm where a poor family lived. On their return home, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” The son said, “It was great, Dad.” The father asked, “What did you learn from the trip?” The son thought for a moment and then said, “I saw that we have one dog and they have four dogs. We have a pool that covers our back yard, and they have a creek that goes on and on. We have lanterns on our patio, and they have the stars at night. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go on and on. We have to buy our food, and they grow their food. We have walls around our property to protect us, and they have friends to protect them. Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.”
